This timeline sucks, I want to go back to when everyone knew the X-Files was a TV show and fascists kept their brainrot on AM radio.
I feel like like the QAnon stuff swept up huge swaths of otherwise unconnected conspiracy theorists. Flat earth, chemtrails, aliens, all the “classic” conspiracies just kind of got co-opted and folded into the big crazy tent of insane people.

I recently went to a “Witchcraft Fair” and there were so many people from every little niche thing. Tarot readers, crystal girls, candle spells and intention prayers, sex magic, literally dozens of different specific ways people did their thing.
Oh he was for sure out of touch, he got hugely successful in the 70s and interviewed actual rich and powerful people, real world leaders and superstars. Over his career he interviewed over 50k people, everyone from Nelson Mandela to Eric Andre. Like the other commenter said, it was kind of his shtick to not prepare or learn too much about the guest so he’d “genuinely be curious” about them.
I’m not saying the dude was a saint, he was a womanizer and was married like 7 times, but he wasn’t born into money or anything. He was a little kid from Brooklyn whose dad died when he was 9 and it messed him up, he grew up poor as fuck until he lucked into radio in the 50s. He did end up seeing a lot of success, idk if he ever got private jet rich but I’m sure he traveled 1st class more than once.
Eat the rich and everything but also save your ire for someone that deserves it, an old dead interviewer seems pointless.

The Border Patrol and Customs (in the Department of Homeland Security) is actually responsible for securing borders. States do not get to decide how their borders are enforced.
We all have to deal with illegal immigration, most of which doesn’t even happen on the southern border. We manage to do it without building death traps or tricking people into getting on busses and sending them to states we don’t like.

On the same hand, even if you don’t subscribe to capitalist ideology you’re forced to participate.
We (at least in the U.S.) have no real safety net for people who are unable to provide for themselves for whatever reason. Capitalism is great if you’re the one with the capital but if not the world can be a brutal, uncaring place and you can quite literally die on the street.
Crime is endemic to capitalism and I feel like better social safety nets would pay huge dividends in a lot of ways.
