Coming from Rust I am toying around with Lua at the moment. Lua is a small, simple and I would say a very neat language. But for big projects like an entire game I would personally much prefer a “traditional” compiled language like C/C++, Java/C# or Rust. Scripting langs are great for small scopes, but they quickly become a burden for bigger things in my opinion.

But I like to use Btrfs on top of LUKS and more often than not it’s not an option.

Does it have to be an overlay or would a regular notification that pops up suffice? Those may be quite easy to write fir your chosen DE.

I agree, but memes are honestly what I look for while idly scrolling during downtime. It’s the necessary fluff and filler that gets people to come back regularly and makes it all less dry.

I get that people don’t like being forced, but otherwise I couldn’t care less about Firefox snap vs deb. All problems I once had have been ironed out. On the contrary, I like sticking to the “recommended” path with more developer focus and hopefully higher stability. For my usecases I have zero problems with snap.

For a while Google+ recommended content that your friends liked or interacted with. I once got a Google Play app recommendation that highlighted the review a friend of mine posted on it. I was TERRIFIED that it did that by default and spend the rest of the day going through ALL settings on ALL online services that allowed connecting with friends in any way. Also, you could go to my youtube profile and could publicly see what videos I liked. A friend asked me about it and I was mortified!

Great point! That’s another great angle on privacy as principle.

I’m gay and didn’t want people to know when I was younger. I think everybody who says they have nothing to hide has either not thought very deeply about what they may want to keep to themselves or does not understand the principle that people should only ever know about you what you want to share with them.

Also, if being an open book is the norm, everybody with good reasons to not be completely open (like I used to be) will eventually stand out from the crowd. Keeping everybody else’s private stuff private also means you can keep your own stuff private.

Hmm, the easy way would be to simply set the balance to 100% left, but that’s just the left channel and not both. Maybe combined with some of the other’s suggestions it could work.

It also shows the text of appointments in the ‘month’ overview which a lot of other apps don’t do! It’s the first app that could replace google calendar for me, for exactly that reason.

Might this just be an issue of your distro (or version) that does not hibernate well with btrfs? I know my Ubuntu 22.04 LTS fails to wake up from hibernation on btrfs right now. Coincidentally, also on an NVME.

Factorio comes to mind. More of a factory builder, but I’d describe the gameplay as being a lot more about designing stuff and figuring out good solutions. If you have ever felt a slight bit of achievement after getting something to work in a programming language or some engineering discipline, this game will be like crack for you! And I do mean that literally. I spent 50hrs within a few weeks on it, loved it, couldn’t stop thinking about it, felt like it was better than socializing and then realized that it took me months or years to get to the same playtime in any other game I own!

He, while we’re on the topic of documentation, if people want to help the effort, where should they look for a start? I am still new to Nix but love it so far and in the distant future I could see myself writing docs. Is there a place where people organize doc writing?
