Europeans literally see no irony in throwing shade at Americans for hanging onto their traditional measurement system, while also speaking 27 different languages in the span of a few hundred miles.

Maybe come down off your high horse until you get that situation sorted, eh? >.>

Edit: Oops, I thought it would be safe to make a joke a in a meme thread.

  • I do find it interesting/funny that Google felt the need to actually provide this, as a sort of acknowledgement that their main search “results” page is so full of random info boxes and generated content that people can’t find actual links anymore.

Personally, and In principle at least, this makes sense. About half of my web searches are looking for a quick answer to a question (what’s the per pound cook time for a frozen turkey?), so having that answer highlighted and summarized alongside the source is very useful. It’s actually the minority of the time that what I really want is a link to an external resource.

The effectiveness of that implementation and the accuracy of the summarized info is a whole other topic…

  • First off, you’re a liar. Not a single person on earth has never had their transaction rejected.

I think this situation is a lot less common than you think.

More to the point, use a debit card if that is your gripe. Then you can just deal with an empty account rather than a declined card.

Just like you’ve never had crypto stolen, I’ve never had a debit card stolen, so by our combined anecdotes both are equally secure.

  • Yeah I feel like we’re getting somewhere now. At first I was on OP’s side, but now I’m imagining them like sitting on the sofa drinking a Diet Dr Pepper while watching Judge Judy reruns and half carrying on a conversation with their dad while wearing their backpack. Then after Judge Judy renders her verdict, dad is suddenly like “why are you wearing a backpack?” Then OP gets defensive and weird, and finally we find ourselves at the situation in the meme.

  • The connector on the PCB is called a ZIF (zero insertion force) connector. Normally they are specified by the number of pins, the pitch of the pins, and whether there is any locking feature or “ear” on the sides of the ribbon cable. It looks like a standard latching connector made by any number of companies.

The ribbon cable looks like it is custom designed for the display’s electrical pin out and the mechanical design of the enclosure.

If you can figure out the mfg of the display itself, you should be able to figure out the ribbon cable pinout.

I know a fair bit about connectors and circuit fab, but not an EE so hopefully this helps!
