  • Oh look, an actual sensible comment.

I completely understand that, a 100%. My point still stands, fueling the fire that is the whole problem isn’t exactly doing any good even if it might feel good for a moment. You can’t leave food laying around and then get mad if you get ants. I even understand the want/fantasy/whatever for violence when you’re at the receiving end of it constantly. But there’s tons of comments wondering “how are the comments like this” when you don’t really need all that much brainpower to see why. Stooping to their level isn’t going to do any good and will be used against you by the very people who are privileged/bigoted enough to behave that way and not get shit. Why supply them with ammo is all I’m saying.

And stooping to their level only makes you an asshole, a tad justified one, but an asshole nonetheless. When both sides justify themselves because they’re right or justified or whatever the excuse for violence and bullshit is, it’s just idiots fighting each other. And while this meme could be in response to violence, it doesn’t really read that way - it says respect. If you think you can demand respect, especially by threatening to murder them, from people so clearly uneducated, unintelligent and idiotic that they behave the way these bigoted pieces of shit do, you’re going to have a hell of a hard time with everything in life. Just bashing your own head against the wall. That’s not how respect works either, especially when it comes to people who you surely know aren’t going to do it in any case.

With a post like this, that to them just “proves their point” about whatever, and dressed like this, did you really expect there wouldn’t be any assholes? And from the comments, there’s assholes on both sides in the comments as much as being angry and pissed is only understandable for one side. Every side is right in their own mind even if one side is completely wrong, but you don’t change an idiots view by threatening them or giving them more ammo to attack you with. There’s a ton of comments here that don’t really work in favor of the cause, but even I’m getting attacked just for stating a fact about feeding trolls and being against violence - violence against disrespect, not violence and people are celebrating that. Which again, only works in favor of the bigots on all levels. But it’s clear that there’s no sensible discussion happening in this post so I’m out.

I hope things get better, because the assholes affect all of our lives and make things shitty for everyone but themselves. Stay safe.

Whatever you wanna tell yourself. Learn to read.

Enjoy your hateful delusional circlejerk and all the trolls. An asshole is an asshole no matter what flag they fly.

LMFAO “in good faith”. Stroking your ego and patting yourself on the back for exactly the same kind of behaviour you’re mad at at the people on the other end of the spectrum for? No wonder you’re so salty. Keep fueling the fire that makes you miserable, but don’t cry about it when it burns you.

    1. Post trollbait
    2. Get trolls
    3. Rage about all the trolls
    4. WHY IS MY LIFE LIKE THIS?!

You do you, if that’s how you want to live. You’re seriously going to act like this post was a sensible and reasonable opening for discussion? Never did I say anything about discussing violence, but this post isn’t a discussion in any way and you know it.

  • You expect something that literally threatens people with fatal violence to get sensible discussion? Sure it’s a meme and all, but shit like this is just asking for trolls to start shit. No one should get threatened with violence, even in the form of a meme or a joke and it just gives assholes more fuel and no-one wins.

  • People are so different, I feel exactly the opposite. There’s a bunch of games I’d want to play, but most of the time when I’m about to start playing, I’m just overcome with the feeling of “What’s the point? It’s just a waste of time”. When I’m watching a show I’m processing a shit-ton of stuff, emotions, life, depression. Games are just “for fun”. I just don’t seem to get the same out of games no matter how “deep” or whatever they are. I accomplish something in a game, 99% of the time I just feel “Well, I could’ve used all that time and energy doing something real and now I just wasted all that time for some virtual character in a virtual world.”.

  • True, but some genres just kinda are like that with a lot of bands. Metal and punk especially. I don’t a 100% agree that it’s always being scared of experimenting/veering off, but just kind of the nature of the genre for a lot of bands. And even then you have examples of bands still retaining “their sound”. Sure it’s not metal, but punk, but I think Fugazi have quite a certain sound even though they evolved a lot.

From that another great example and one of my favorites: Bad Brains! Any of their songs could’ve been on any of their albums and it would not have been out of place.

Metal and punk are very similar in ways though so I excuse myself not thinking of metal examples.

Like I’d say Deathspell Omega sounds have retained their sound in many ways, but they’ve kind of evolved their thing so much you couldn’t really say they have just that specific sound. Where as Deströyer 666 still have the same sound even though they’ve changed quite a bit, but you could go on forever about outliers. I don’t remember what my point was.

Having said all that I wish more metal and punk bands tried something more different sometimes.

  • Led Zeppelin stayed roughly the same, but they had all kinds of influences mixed in from the start to sustain their sound and not get tired.

High on Fire to an extent. Matt Pike is an absolute riff machine and it seemed like every album up til sobriety was just a banger of an album after the other.

Primus I kind of think too, just because they have a very unique sound due to Les’s Residentsy vocals and his bass style.

The Smiths? The Fall! Sonic Youth as well. Elliott Smith.

I think it kind of depends on how much you allow and what you see as their sound. You can always find examples and some difference in sound, but for many bands and artists it’s more song to song or even producer dependent.

Hell I’d chuck in a band like Kyuss as well, most post-Kyuss projects John Garcia was involved with still sound like Kyuss because he was a massive part of the sound, listen to Slo Burn or Unida and tell me you don’t hear Kyuss.

A lot of artists change more drastically, like you can tell if some song is by Nick Cave, but there’s a huge difference from album to album, where as The Birthday Party though kind of had a specific sound they stuck to as well even if they explored it a little.

Ooh and Judas Priest in a big way, Motörhead too to an extent.

    Good question!

  • You’re more right than you realize, and not so archaic really. The texture of clouds, or even clouds themselves, mostly smaller, frizzy kind of clouds are called “pilvenhattara” where pilven is a possesive form of ‘pilvi’ - ‘cloud’ and hattara is kind of an abstract descriptive word, at least today. The translation of ‘rag, tatter’ is a bit more complex and at least a little unrelated. There might be some historic connection, since ‘hattara’ is kind of a descriptive word that describes (at least for quite a long time) a kind of specific type of clouds appearance, more so a small cloud that kind of just falls apart. It’s more like a frayed rag and the ‘hattara’ specifically pertains to the raggedness/frayed part - like the actual physical/visual quality of it being kind of frailed or jagged, like a cloud and so it does relate to clouds.

Hattara as a mythological thing is a different thing itself and again, might have some historic connection - my best guess would be that the kind of creature it means is something that is kind of ‘frayed’ like a vision or a fog ora cloud or something and is only seen for a moment. I’m unfamiliar with that one, though I’ve read a ton about folk beliefs and mythlogy here.
