If you haven’t played StS: Downfall yet you should.

In 3.5 we called this “Guidance of the Avatar.”

Trying to get them to cooperate, them being randomly cute, them “helping” with whatever else we’re doing… So… kinda yeah. XD I wouldn’t make that comparison in any other context but it works here.

My wife has seen my photo roll; it’s a shitload of pictures of our cats punctuated by the occasional shot of my baking.

I grew up and became a librarian instead, because I genuinely enjoy helping people find the things they are interested in, but couldn’t lend my energy to a system that doesn’t care about the that they are interested in part, among other flaws.

I did all this shit, anyway. Twenty years ago. Sacrificed everything on the altar of the almighty A. What did it get me? A master’s degree I’m too depressed and anxious to ever use and a long-standing hatred of the system. Now I speak out because nobody listens to the people who are still in the system. The people directly affected by it are easy to ignore. Now I’m the demographic people listen to whether they should or not, so I’m saying what I wish people had said when it was me.

School logic. Infinite power to punish and restrict, infinite resources to harm and burden, nothing for support or uplift.

What is this “too much” of which you speak?

I would say there are plenty of systems that fail at being less complex than 3.5. If I never have to do GURPS math again, for instance…

Seriously. 5e is already a watered-down, anemic shadow of what 3.5 was… and this is too complex?

“Your rights are what you can take and defend by yourself” is the logic of sociopaths and warlords, not civilization.

Beer brewing fits right in with sanitation that a lot of us are pushing.

There’s also the “How To Make Everything” YouTube channel. I wonder if the guy that runs that has written a book yet? If not, he should.

Since I mentioned it in a response to another poster:

I would include everything I know (or had access to for the sake of this scenario) about germ theory. Admittedly my own off-hand knowledge is not much, but basic hygiene and sanitation and how to avoid getting sick would save a lot of lives. What germs are, how vaccination works, etc.

I think the instructions for how to make soap would be less important to a civilization than why to make soap. Germ theory and basic hygiene practices would save a lot of lives.

Honor Among Thieves was so good. I couldn’t stop geeking out over how much D&D was in it. They even cameo’d the freaking Animated Series party! It’s nuts.

This show was the television equivalent of the smell of a dead skunk being roasted over a tire fire.
