Not sure what the average age on those are, just figured they had different tastes.

Seniors have a lot of time but can barely figure out Facebook as it is.
This is surprising to me, I actually experienced the opposite. Reddit had a lot of teens but Lemmy seems to have older posters who are more thoughtful about what they post. In my 30’s myself and wasn’t able to get anyone younger than 34 to join.
It could just be the communities you subscribed to?
In your case as a discriminated minority this is a natural defense mechanism. You are going to be on the alert for people who based on demographics are more likely to be hostile towards you based on past experiences and trauma.
Some countries are much more hostile towards anyone lgbt than others so unfortunately those views might carry over.
What you can do is be aware of the bias. Don’t let your guard down until you get to know the person. Don’t let their race or nationality prevent you from getting to know them. If they prove to be discriminatory or dangerous then it’s healthy to set boundaries. You don’t need to feel guilty for not liking an individual person who is actively discriminating against you.
That’s what people call it in my country. I dk why now that I think about it? Is it slang?

Yeah it’s like Reddit where anyone can answer a question. Sometimes it’s good sometimes it’s terrible. I have been using it more lately to supplement Lemmy when I need to look up a Reddit type of question. If you need facts not opinion then I just use Wikipedia or official sources for that.

Bringing up pronouns as a straight man can become counterproductive because it just riles up the right to go after trans people.
Really it’s all about respect and situational awareness. If you are in a generally liberal area, working with the LGBT community, have trans people around, etc then go for it. But if you are around a bunch of maga guys and nobody is trans don’t bother.
The purpose of saying pronouns is to create an environment where people feel safe to casually say whatever pronouns they feel like. Normalizing it so it isn’t a big deal.
