I’m a bit late to the party, but I would be inclined to agree with the majority here. Your choice to have their cookies deleted on browser close is adding more friction to an already quite high friction process - you managed to get them to switch over, you don’t want to undo all that over cookies of all things.
You have to remember, it is their machine at the end of the day, and while you might be able to put up with having to redo 2FA loads due to cookie deletion, they’re clearly not… And if that’s going to be the dealbreaker, you’re far better off forgetting cookie deletion for now and focusing on more passive privacy options like blocking 3rd party cookies, trackers, and ADs.
I was genuinely confused by this statistic until I realised it was a double negative. YouTube losen’t Google a lot of money.
In terms of online presence I think one has to be careful about becoming too private - at what point do you become so untrackable that even people you would like to find you (I.e. old friends) can’t anymore.
I try to throw the bottle to the bathroom entrance, and once I’m done in the way of the front door to make it a physical inconvenience to forget it (then hopefully goes on the shopping list)
As I said before, I was focusing on all the replies that were around when I first commented that were commenting on/advocating for Trump - that is why I said “I’m surprised how many people think Trump of all people is going to somehow handle to both Ukraine and Israel better than Biden”, because that is the sentiment I saw.
I can see how that would look like an attempt to shield him from criticism, but at the same time I don’t think I’m wrong in saying it doesn’t really matter - unless you want Trump in the Whitehouse again, Biden is the only choice…
I’m not saying I like the fact that the only two candidates we have are basically “allow the genocide to continue for the foreseeable future” or “escalate the genocide, and let Russias do what they want to Ukraine”, but that is what we’re stuck with.
That’s odd, because if you bothered to look any further down you actually would see comments talking about Trump, and there were more before.
But that aside, you’ll find that’s because I’m not advocating for Biden - any more progressive candidate would’ve been better, but that’s not what we got. What I AM advocating is against Trump - I hardly think I need to explain why.
Since it’s basically impossible for an independent to win, if you don’t want Trump, your only option is Biden. That’s it, whether we like it or not.

For one, Trump is so overtly a Russian asset it isn’t even funny. No enemy of Russia would speak of them the way Trump has both during and after his presidency. Combined with negative comments he has made about Ukraine and the war, he absolutely will cut any and all US assistance to Ukraine - his best effort to hand Ukraine to Russia on a silver platter.
And you’d be mistaken if you think the Palestinians would fare much better considering in the few public statements he’s made about Gaza show him openly supporting both the actions of Israel and Netanyahu, calling on them to finish it quicker.
If your reaction to Biden’s weak descalation of Gaza is to allow someone who’s public intentions are even worse to take office, then all I can say is I hope that high-horse was worth it.

While Capitalism definitely sucks ass, I feel like no matter what economic system you’re in there’s always going to be some treadmill to walk, because there will always be things you need, and you will need to work to earn them in some way.

Ah, so Apple definitely wouldn’t sell you a 60W USB-C Charge Cable while limiting other cables to 20W?
Nor would Apple ever dream of selling you a cable capable of delivering up to 240W for their phones?
I’m not suggesting that Apple is nerfing their USB-C cables. What I’m telling you is that they’re nerfing their competitor’s cables compatability in order to sell you a solution you wouldn’t need if they weren’t such dicks.
Also, I apologise. The USB 2.0 speed fuckery only applies to the pro series Iphones… the normal series ones are limited to USB 2.0 no matter what cable you use.
As for that lightning adaptor, even if you did need it I wouldn’t recommend buying that one, unless you’re desperate to give Apple even more profits. There are smaller form factor, significantly cheaper converters out there that will do the job just fine.
USB-C has for years now supported higher wattage power delivery, and higher data transfer speeds than lightning.
I can’t speak to your experience, but from mine, the build of quality of Apple’s own lightning cables was terrible. I owned two IPod Touch’s over the course of about 6 years, and I basically went through one cable a year because they’d just disintegrate towards the ends of the cable or internally decapitate themselves. Didn’t even need to break them, they’d break themselves.
Whereas in the 6+ years I’ve used phones with USB-C, only two of them have broken. One was because the cable got snagged under a chair and I pulled the USB-C end off not realising it was stuck, and the other one was my Mum breaking the USB-A end shoving it into a plug the wrong way. Both things that had nothing to do with the build quality of the cables. I still have every other one of my USB-C cables.
While the lightning cable was ahead of its time when it came out, mostly because the USB consortium couldn’t get its shit together, nowadays it’s woefully inferior.
Having said that, Apple has still managed to fuck their customers over by making so that only their overpriced “high speed” USB-C cables can work at anything better than USB 2.0 standard.
I doubt that 3rd parties won’t try to circumvent Apple’s BS, but goes to show even the EU couldn’t make Apple drop the act entirely.
Edit: And that’s not even talking about the wildly expensive lightning to USB-C converter they’re selling to anybody desperate enough to hold onto their lightning cables
At the time it came out, definitely, considering its main competitors for a standardised connector were Mini USB and Micro USB, which were serviceable but not that great…
Could be worse though, you could’ve been stuck with “superspeed” Micro USB like some folks were, those were just plain awful to use.
