Unfortunately the snap argument may have merit after all. Some companies have dropped support for it and are all in on flatpak. I’ve run into several cases where something was available on flathub but not the snap store. And considering gnome, kde, and most new devs are all in on flatpak, someone would be really missing out on some great apps that make life easier if they only had snaps.

Not only that but Ubuntu has really diverged in other areas as well they may only show up later like choosing LXD over podman. People should just get an experience that is closest to SteamOS for maximum compatibility and support atp. Putting someone on Ubuntu I think is like orphaning them.

I’ve found that is shifting a bit as a lot of newer hardware needs kernel support, and as new people with newer devices enter the linux world they can encounter issues. I know I’ve had to wait for feature to make it to the kernel before I got it for some newer hardware. It can be frustating especially if it’s something essential or realky desirable. Even more so if you aren’t tech savvy.

Tbf though the results speak for themselves though, GNOME has definitely been thriving under her though much of that is also do to the effort of others. She did put in a lot of work and no one inside GNOME complained so I assume it was a good deal. Also the page you linked shows she’s been working in executive positions in non profits for a while so definitely qualified.

Thankfully, bazzite is both, the community has gotten rather large lately so support has been good.

That’s true, I was just hoping to maybe convince you to try out something that maybe you don’t know is wonderful yet. I’ve had that experience with music before, and I think it helped me to understand why people like things

You shouldn’t generalize, a lot of the stuff that gets played a lot is not indicative of the whole genre. There is some rap that makes me cover my ears, and there is some rap that makes me feel enlightened. Hip hop it just depends on the song, since there is so much variety.

I might be wrong since I haven’t checked for the location in gnome 40 but there should be tab in the main settings app for it; if not just search workspace in that app and it should come up.

You can have multiple workspaces per monitor on GNOME, just check your multitasking settings. I do this for my workflow since it’s more efficient for me.

It’s actually really funny you say that since starting out with default gnome is actually what got me to stick with Linux. I tried out Ubuntu style gnome and tried stuff like dash to panel and dash to dock but found it either unstable or hated it. Vanilla gnome is what got me to be at peace lol. I thought I didn’t like it at first but then it just suddenly clicked once I got over that. Calling it bad is just rude.

Aside from the integrated terminal in almost any app, I think gnome has all those other features you mentioned. I do have to say KDE is definitely more customizable though. Also not sure I would say gnome has any MacOS features, the two are very different in my experience. But gnome is definitely lagging on implementation of Somme Wayland things. UI/UX is king though for me so here we are lol.
