If you actually believe in horseshoe theory then I have a bridge to sell you. Are you going to tell me you’re a centrist?

I’m going to take your question as genuine and answer in equal.
It’s a bit more complicated than that. Most leftists will agree with you, the USSR and other Eastern Europe countries that were communist did a lot of damage and most likely more harm. They committed atrocities. They were authoritarian. It was disgusting.
The leftists who still prop those countries up on their shoulders are what many call tankies. Today they sing praise about Russia, China, and North Korea, but your observation is correct, they won’t ever move there. These are individuals who repeat propaganda and are, ultimately, just red fascists. When you actually dig into their ideals they parallel and sometimes mirror Nazis.
I believe leftism cannot have an authoritarian element to it. I think most social hierarchies need to be destroyed. I think the only way to have a socialist society is through democratic means. Democracy in the workplace and national level. I think most of us can agree workers need higher wages and there is a wealth gap that needs to be dismantled. I think most of us believe healthcare needs to be universal, food and shelter and water, education, information (internet), speech, and much more should be free and readily available. There is this element of freedom that needs to be achieved that isn’t found the countries that are “communist”.
I don’t want to explicitly say those communist countries wasn’t “real communism”, but fascists, authoritarianism, always appropriate from progressive movement. There is no freedom, especially of workers, under a dictatorship. If workers are starving, dying, being outright black bagged and killed, i don’t think that can be considered communist.
Just a heads up, this is how early reddit was. People will argue that the larger the platform the more likely the community will deteriorate. I will argue that is partly true and does contribute to enshittification of social media, but I think the main factor is the corporate greedos trying to continuously increase profit. Reddit kept making new rules and policies that kept degrading the platform. They made a toxic environment where flaming and antagonistic content would be shown on people’s feed.
Am I saying Lemmy isn’t awesome? Not really. You guys can make that conclusion. But I have seen similar posts like this in the early days of reddit. Make do of this as you want. Ponder and ask what made reddit bad and if this is the path of lemmy or it is “naturally” immune to it.
Yeah but have you ever considered America bad??
I don’t trust capitalists and I don’t trust Netflix. It is a safer bet they will cancel than continue this show after 3 seasons.
Not only reading comprehension but also media literacy and scientific literacy. Too many people misunderstand simple messages in media. Homelander from The Boys come in mind.

Punk scene is still active in my area and they are based af. Some Nazis tried to get in the scene and they were stomped away.
How many people are using Piped, revanced, or the like? I doubt it is the majority. This move is highly likely more greed than anything.
Does Google care about our user experience? The short answer is no. Look at the intrusive ads, how long they are, them suggesting DRM, right wing pipeline, and more.
Look at how they treat their content creators. Demonetization, channel and copyright strikes, etc.
The list goes on. Youtube should and needs to be public. Internet is a utility and needed to survive by everyone. A video hosting service like Youtube is needed as well. Through every perspectice, Google is, ultimately, wrong in doing this.
Is Youtube revanced going to be affected in a similar way?
Now you’re being dense and bad faith.
I picked up plants when I got depressed. Not only are they cool, but it is nice seeing something grow and nurtured. Plus, I learned that there isn’t enough sunlight in my home which contributed to my depression.
The only thing I recommend is not to get a hard starter plant like calathea/goeppertia but like a spider plant. Really cool seeing them explode with growth!
Are there other imaginary communities like the subreddits? Like /r/imaginarylandscapes, dwarves, elves, portals, etc. Even one that cross posts from reddit would be cool
Reddit isn’t but the internet is. The internet has been getting shittier the past year and people feel it. How many times do you append reddit at the end of your google searches? How many times does google send you reddit search results?
Reddit is a remnant of the internet before it got centralized and capitalism fucked it up. Yes, we are federated but a majority won’t be switching for a long time. I think there is validity in defacing /r/place as it brings awareness and documents the shitty things the admins are doing. That is very powerful and easy to point and show others what is happening.
Yes. What this is saying is large industries that are meant to feed people or provide commodities cannot belong to just one person. We are seeing the effects of monopolization right now in our time.
Do other au/dhd also hate emails? I fucking hate emails but I felt like it was just me.
