I found since people are used to app stores, I’ve had a much easier time convincing people to try out Linux. My mom even said that she always wished her windows PC had a proper app store.
As an outsider it seems absolutely weird that the US as a country seems to have accepted people getting shot by other regular people daily as normal.
I think the whole true love thing is bullshit and I am in a very happy longterm relationship. But it’s just love. Love is the feeling that it is. There is no true version of it. All love is the same. But relationships are not built on love alone. The true love concept makes it come across to me that way though. That if things don’t work out your love just wasn’t true enough. You just have to love harder and truer next time. It’s even worse when the concept gets extended to there only being one true love per lifetime or whatever.
It’s not that. Imo all love is created equal. It’s the other factors that make things work or not work. Compatibility with the partner, how hard you try, how much you try, how mature you are. Honesty, trust. But also external factors such as how easy or hard life is at that time for you. Even the greatest relationships can fall apart in the shittiest of times. Doesn’t make the love less true.

Seriously. Way too many open source projects have bad names. In jokes, oh so clever world plays, programmer humor recursive names and just silly sounding or impossible to pronounce stuff everywhere.

In the geek community signal is pretty common. I meet most of my friends through D&D, board games and other tabletop games these days. Those are usually in person.
If possible I used signal instead of WhatsApp groups to organize the stuff. When there is only WhatsApp then I’m willing to compromise for organizational groups. I don’t use my phone for much so it isn’t that much info they can get from my number and interests at least.
Other than that I use no social media. Don’t ever let anyone tell you to make or keep friends you need social media. You absolutely don’t. Maybe for some kinds of friends you do but I guess then those won’t me mine.

My father in law recently asked where all the depressed, burned out people who need to work from home or part time were on his day.
I didn’t want to ruin the mood and say it but They probably killed themselves.
That’s awesome and really shows we can learn skills which dont align with our natural tendencies.
