  • I have a similar issue with headphone cables failing, often far too soon, but I get that too. It’s wear and tear from being yanked and moved. They’re also often cheap headphones. But I’ve had apple cables disintigrate when stored in a cupboard and not moved at all. It’s like they’re biodegradeable.

I suspect they’re using a softner which degrades the plastic over time. Their cables are softer/more bendy than cheaper/stiffer plastic cables.

But for the price they charge, I don’t see why they couldn’t make them fabric covered. You can buy fabric covered cables for really cheap online, and they ship them half away across the world and still make a profit. Why can’t apple do the same?

  • I find that people who claim to be fans of free speech, and complain about censorship, get offended when you suggest holding an al-qaeda fundraiser at their house.

Free speech for me, but not for thee. Basically.

Luckily most adults realise that they’re not alone in the world, although plenty are still stuck an adolescent stage of development.

  • Put simply, an individual’s right to free speech can never be without limits, because that would mean they would limit the rights of others.

Eg. threatening to kill people who want to voice their opinion, limits their ability to exercise their right to free speech.

Eg. you could use a siren to drown out what other people wish to say, effectively censoring them, then call it censorship when someone criticized you for doing so.

Eg. being able to say whatever you want on someone else’s website, limits their ability to say or not say what they want on their website.

This is why limiting the right to free speech of certain people, on average results in more free speech for everyone.

The thin blue line is a symbol for the police. Used in the UK and US.

As a reaction to Black Lives Matter protests against racist police brutality, the (far-)right coined the term Blue Lives Matter to protest violence against the police.

Of course, the whole thing is disingenious. They support the police because the police in the US are often racist and they like that the police disproportionately beat up black people. When rioters stormed the US capital after Trump lost the election, plenty were waving blue lives flags, and didn’t actually seem to care that much about endangering the police guarding the building.

TLDR hyper-partisan US political virtue signaling associated with the far-right.

You can’t siphon a trucks gas just because it has a blue line flag. Most modern cars have an anti-siphon valve, so that causes issues.

Instead, you locate the fuel tank and drill a small hole in it. That way you can let the fuel collect in a tub or jug. On lifted trucks this is even easier. Drill the hole, pop a large jug under it, perhaps use a small rubber hose or funnel.

Remember to leave them a little note that you’ve drilled a hole, so they can go get it repaired and not leak fuel everywhere attempting to refill it.
