  • It’s funny because the ADHD subreddit is memes and upvotes and people talking about how ADHD hurts their performance at work.

The bipolar subreddit is people who want to kill themselves. People who are homeless. People who are broken, have lost their spouses, jobs, lives.

And ADHD gets so much sympathy. It’s a mental illness that’s so socially acceptable that people talk about it at work. Compare and contrast that to bipolar where you carry a stigma wherever you go. It’s nuts.

  • Tell them you did something unverifiable but technical.

“I started a game studio with a buddy from college. No, sorry, I don’t have a TIN (tax identification number [IRS])”

Give them a number to a burner phone and fake an accent.

“Tom? Yeah we worked together at ___ I felt like he was a great guy to work with.”

Tell them you were deathly sick.

“Yeah I had skin cancer. Nothing major but I had to take it easy and after beating it we all went on vacation to celebrate”

Tell them you lived the software engineer dream life

“After leaving my last job I wanted a change of pace so I went to become a bartender in Melbourne. It was all under the table”

  • I am a queer rights activist. During Covid I was in CHAZ/CHOP, I’ve been a community organizer. I’ve lit animal shit on fire in front of a politician’s home.

A group blocked hundreds of people underground in a tunnel during the BLM protests. I lost faith in the modern day racial equality movement. I am a self admitted racist now. I strongly dislike certain “disproportionately troublesome” ethnic groups.

Trapping people underground caused me to leave the movement. It caused me to reconsider if I want to be associated with people who commit acts of terror against regular citizens.

Obama involved us in Syria and supported the Saudis bombing Yemen.

Clinton got involved in the Balkans.

Reagan funded rebel groups in South America.

Carter… Actually idk anything this far back.

You should listen to Noam Chomsky. He’s very very liberal and has some good criticisms of the US involvement overseas. I don’t agree with everything he says but it’s worth listening to.
