Here he was falsely accused of theft but because enough people believed the lie, he was taken to jail based solely on sentiment.

The meme is saying their decline in their self confidence and even world view started when they didn’t respond “yes we can” but instead “no we cant”

I also don’t know about ripping off movie and TV characters and just swapping out the names. I suppose it depends on the character, but I feel like this is the easiest one to tell that it was “stolen”.
Using Pokémon descriptions for monsters is aces though, even if you use the older mons. I think Monster Hunter monsters would also translate over pretty well.
They do this in every game that has a competitive scene. It’s done as a means of eliminating random chance being the factor for a victory or defeat. Does that make it less fun? Depends on who you ask.
