  • Yeah, sorta.

    • 311 is a shit show. You have to pretty much get involved with your local government officials to get literally anything done, otherwise you can just live with your pothole.
    • City officials have had a hard on for a minor league baseball stadium for fucking YEARS. They asked Richmond citizens for their vote on it, and every single time people said fuck no. It’s $110 million that could have been used to repair crumbling infrastructure, provide support programs, add additional affordable housing, repair our busted streets…noooo, why do that when we can go to a fucking minor league baseball game. Good idea Stoney. It’s getting built by 2026. That’ll for sure bring in money Stoney. Wonder what sort of kick back he’s getting as he’s only been pushing it for like 5 years.
    • City officials also hard a hard on for a casino to bring in additional “needed money” that they planned to throw in absolutely terrible locations. No one wanted it. I think we had to vote it down like half a dozen times. Petersburg, a crumbling ruin struggling town is now voting to add it. Just what it needs.
    • Look up the history of Jackson Ward.
    • Shcokoe Bottome still has buildings were destroyed in the flood back 30 years ago that have yet to be revitalized (but a fucking stadium is fine, right?)

Thats just off the top of my head. Love it here though. Just…lots of annoyances.

…and how do you enforce it? No one is going to want to give up the land that they worked for and purchased themselves, or that they developed. Give up your rights or we imprison or kill you?

And who controls this enforcing agency? The single party government? Because you can’t have multiple parties…how do you prevent the government from taking advantage of their position? Like, I don’t think communism is this magical fix-all that you think it is.

Communism inevitably will always lead to dictatorship and totalitarianism.

In order to become a communist state, you have to: 1.) Get a bit army or group of people to enforce the upcoming rules. 2.) Force people to get rid of private ownership or threaten them to give it up. This will piss a lot of people off. 3.) Get rid of them if they don’t. This will piss a lot of people off. 4.) Realize that you’ve pissed a lot of people off, and that your the only power in the land, you definitely don’t want to give this up. 5.) Enact a single party system…oh, fuck…

Communism doesn’t work on a large-scale, and it’s not sustainable. By it’s very nature it’s extremely prone to abuse, and fundamentally impossible to install any sort of checks and balances on a single party-system. Look how bad it is with a two-party system in the US.

  • I get what you’re saying, it’s capitalism vs socialism, not Democracy vs socialism, however my issue is that they don’t even like our Democracy. I got banned for even supporting it.

They were slamming how terrible our liberal politicians were, so I made a few comments about it and I got banned for defending them. It’s frustrating…but whatever…

  • One thing that I love from this thread…the number of conservative trolls. They are fucking terrified that Biden is going to win. So bad that they are pushing this absolute bullshit of doubt and worry about Biden.

Anyone that’s actually paying attention to Biden knows that the dude has been getting shit done even with a stalled congress. Any one that’s even remotely paying attention to the election is literally not going to elect a fascist, and people are absolutely starting to pay attention. Look at the Project 2025 bullshit. Look at how much people are starting to realize how fucking serious this is. Even Trump has desperately tried to distance himself from it, and can’t seem to keep dodging now that speeches and videos of him talking about it starting to surface.

Bidens okay. Democrats have backed him. He’s not dropping out.
