• I have followed this guide in a VM and it sort of works. It involves messing with source files to get it working on a modern setup (many outdated dependencies, compiler requirements, a few bugs here and there) and some helper files crash the UI, but it’s getting pretty close. With Wine set up I bet you’d be able to fool quite a few people into thinking you’re actually running Windows 7 with a weird translucency added to Aero.

      We’ll never seen the full care and unified design Microsoft put into Windows 7 on a normal desktop. For a short while I had hope for Gnome, because it’s fat window borders seem to mirror Windows 7s quite well, but Gnome went all anti-theming and CSDso I don’t think it’s worth putting effort into such a theme.
